Formally Declaring a State of Emergency due to COVID - 19

Mayor Paul Becker has formally declared a local state of emergency for the City of Jacksonville as a precautionary measure to provide the City with increased flexibility in terms of resources, purchasing, emergency response options for COVID-19 and to assist local business owners with relief from code standards regarding parking, sandwich board signs and food delivery.

The declaration is not meant to cause panic; it enables the City and staff to be in the best position to serve the community where needed most.

The City Council will vote to ratify this declaration at the upcoming City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
